Procedure and Committee Flow
Hi Delegates!
I wanted to check in with you to provide some more insight to how our committee is going to work at BMUN 72. The Korean Imperial Court will be using standard crisis procedure.
We will begin with a perpetual moderated caucus with one minute speaking time per delegate. Delegates may wish to create a new motion (such as a motion for a round robin, or an opportunity for all delegates to speak for a set period of time about themselves and their goals for committee). When we are voting for new motions and all motions fail, we will default to a perpetual unmoderated caucus. Throughout committee sessions, delegates will collaborate to navigate the current situation in moderated and unmoderated caucuses. Delegates will submit directives, or solutions to address a certain issue in the current situation. Directives may be publicly submitted for all of committee to see and deliberate, or may be privately submitted to the dais to secretly advance your own personal agenda. Come prepared with some specific issues in our committee you wish to see addressed!
We will also have intermittent crisis updates, where the dais will offer some updates in the world of our committee that affect the trajectory of committee. Delegates should respond to these updates swiftly and effectively.
For a more detailed look at BMUN procedure you can check out the Crisis Procedure Guide on the BMUN website here. It will be the last section on that page.
Although we plan on letting you dictate the flow of committee, our dais will attempt to steer some talking points if we feel that an important sub-topic is left out of the conversation or that debate is repeating itself– with that in mind, we suggest you prepare lots of different talking points to make for an engaging debate! We will also be covering both topics over the span of committee, so please prepare accordingly to speak on both!
Again, don’t hesitate to reach out for any questions on procedure or flow, and leave a comment below if you’re excited for BMUN 72!
Looking forward to seeing you all in committee!
Ted Kim
Head Chair of KOREA, BMUN 72
Just wanted to address a typo in the above blog post. We will not be defaulting to a "perpetual unmoderated caucus" but rather a "perpetual moderated caucus." Sorry for the confusion!
